View Full Version : Overwhelming Dimension Text, Take Two

I am not getting a lot of responses in the LT forum, so I'll try this one.

If I want to add some text to a dimension line, the text editor will zoom the text so it overwhelms everything else on the screen. I have to zoom out and when I hit ok I am zoomed out from my original view.

For example: I am working on a plan view with a scale of 1:32. If I am zoomed in so I can read the text on the screen and try to edit a line of dimension text, the entire screen is filled with the text or a portion of. If I change the annoscale to 1:1, then I am able to edit the text without zooming out. So it is zooming the text in proportion to the annotative scale. I do not want to keep switching the annoscale everytime I edit a line of dimension text.

This will not happen to Multileader text, Mtext or Dtext. It only happens with dimension text.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

It has been suggested that I use the prefix and/or suffix in properties, but for longer lines I prefer to just add the lines using ddedit. Besides, I should be able to edit text with one pick, not grip, go to properties, scroll to prefix/suffix, scroll to what I want to edit and go back to the screen.

This has been happening ever since we installed SP1 to LT2008. It didn't happen prior to that.

What is dtexted set to? Also, check your mtexted. You can set it to the old editor or the new in-place text editor. Maybe that go switched somehow?

Dtexted = 2
Mtexted = internal
I tried "oldeditor" and I don't want to go back to that.

See the MTEXTFIXED variable in help. Depending on the MTEXTED setting you may have to set this to 0 or 1.

No Joy.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have similiar issues. It doesn't happen all the time but I do get a screen full of text editor from time to time. In addition to this though, I also experience cases where the text editor is miniscule and I have to zoom in to edit the text.

MTEXTED - internal
DTEXTED - 2
MTEXTFIXED - 2

It's acting like MTEXTED is set to "oldeditor" and MTEXTFIXED is set to 1 or 2 but they're not.
