I am pretty new to Revit. I had several questions- hopefully someone will know the answer to.
Is there any way to draw in a fence like you would a wall. In another forum, I found a gate someone built, but I just need to draw a chain-link fence around a building.

I also wondered if there is any way to draw in a new level that is at a slope, such as a finish grade. I am working on a project where the footing is stepped, but instead of a true step, they are on a slope (older building).

Thanks! Is there a way to edit the railing to make it look like a chain link fence? I also need to make a custom railing that has pipe rails, but the pre-loaded railing isn't right. I haven't delt with the family editor yet- I have had basic Revit training.

You can create a profile that is vertical and has the height of your fence and is very thin (like 1/8" or less). Then you edit an existing railing and create a new one, loading the profile just created as a rail. You will have to play with the offsets to make the height match.
You can create a new material and call it chain link fence. Give a 100% transparency to it and choose the surface pattern to be the diagonal crosshatch. It will looks like a chain link fence, without modeling each wire.

You can also load pipes as balusters if you want.

However, there's no use to it if you plan to try it with your topo surface, since it won't host the railing. If there's any way you can create your topo using other tools (like floors) than the railing idea will work.

I have been using a curtain wall for chain link fencing, with round mullions ever 8 or 10 feet, nothing on top or bottom, and the wire mesh (created as Andre described) for the curtain wall panels. But that only works for straight horizontal fence runs, not sloping with a site.

You can put a narrow floor at the level & slope of the topo that you can attach to - I put it just below the surface. By creating section views along the fence line you can get the contour close enough. Well, close enough for me.

You can use the Railing Tool and make the Balusters look like a fence......
