Has anyone used the Autodesk Courseware training materials? If so, were they useful? I personally would like training mostly in creating families (are there other good resources for this?), but the rest of the office needs training in the program in general. Any comments would be appreciated. The training offered by our reseller usually ends up being more of an advertisement for their other products. We're trying to stay away from that. Thanks!

I have found that the Autodesk training courseware or reseller courseware usually falls short from a workflow standpoint. Most of what is offered touch on one specific facet or tool at a time and do not necessarily address how an office would use the software throughout the duration of a project. For this reason, I have developed our own internal training program. I will say this, however; the information that is out there for Revit, including the help file, is very good and are great reference materials.

As far as family training, the only thing that I am aware of is by a reseller. You can purchase the book(s) at http://stores.engineering.com/ascent_us/customer/home.php?cat=65. I believe the book you want is the Intermediate Guide. You can also find really good family information on this forum as well - check out the ATP.

Thanks! I was thinking of developing some sort of training for the office. My weakness is definitely in creating families. I'll keep working on it, with help from the family forum.

Looks like you are in the middle of phase 4 from the 6 phases of a Revit User...:)

Good luck and don't give up.

Hi all,

I work with Autodesk Learning as a consultant. I work mostly with the AutoCAD Architecture courseware but I work on the same team as the Revit Courseware Managers. If you would like to start a thread about suggested changes to the Revit Essentials or other courseware, now is a good time to speak up (for next year's courseware BTW...:-(...)

cheers

Try this link http://www.cdvsystems.com/zencart125/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=18

These are a version behind but the family editor has not changed much. I am going to use these for people here. They are a great resource also, I believe. They are short and clear from what I know of the producer and the ones I have seen.

Attached is the Table of Contents for the videos.

Does anyone have a plan for training of architectural designers? We have been looking at a subset of Fundamentals Training as shown below from a reseller's custom class. What changes or additions would people suggest to the information below?

We also have thought to have them go through Revit Fundamentals Training class and then focus on additional items not covered in it. Doing the Fundamentals Training would give them a great overview and understanding of Revit they would not get with the class shown below. What additional items specific to designers would they need beyond the Fundamentals Training? Please add items from you knowledge

Please provide you feedback and or attach a class outline of what you have done.

Thanks in advance!

I think revitcourse.com (https//revitcourse.com) is pretty good but you have to pay for the content. I think that they could probably update their material more often, other than that might be worth checking them out. I know that they defiantly cover importing and exporting cad as I completed this tutorial a while ago. Revitkid http://therevitkid.blogspot.com (http://therevitkid.blogspot.com/)/ is also a really helpful place to have a look at some good tutorials.
