I m doing "Getting Started" tutorial that shipped with RAC 2008. In this tutorial I have drawn four leves Lines as follows: -

Level 1 - Line is drawn at -14'
Level 2 - Line is drawn at -10'
Level 2 - Line is drawn at 0'
Level 2 - Line is drawn at 10'

Then I switch to Level 1, I click on Wall Icon in Design Bar & select "Basic Wall Foundation -12" concrete.

Evrything is going smooth, but when I try to choose "02 Entry Level" from Depth drop down list, then error appear that "The Top of the wall is lower than the base of the wall". How this error can be resolved. I m newbie.

In Revit, foundation walls are created upside down. So if you want it to go up to level 2, go to level 2 and draw it, setting the depth pull down to level 1 or "Unconnected. Note that if you choose "Unconnected", even using a positive number will result in your wall being created upside down from level 2.

Hi I m trying to flollwing ur steps, but I m confused, is there 3d view exist in Revit so that I can see that where r walls r drawing in realtime?

These r the few steps that I following in the Getting Started tutorials, pls tell me What the meaning of lower right quadrant and where does it situated in the Drawing area?

In the drawing area, draw walls on the foundation level:
■ Click in the lower-right quadrant to select the wall start point.
■ Move the cursor to the left, enter 40' [12000 mm], and press ENTER.

When drawing in plan, you can at any time to select the "3D" icon and open the 3D view to see what you are doing.

Regarding the lower right quadrant: The tutorial is just roughly saying to you start your wall somewhere close to the right lower corner of your Revit drawing area. If you visually divide you Revit drawing area vertically in two, you'll have it divided in left and right. If you visually divide it horizontally in two, you will have upper and lower. Visually merging both, you have 4 quadrants: Upper right, lower right, upper left and lower left. You don't have to worry about that. It is only trying to help location you...

Thanks, but I need to follow each step precisely to create a Base in REvit. I was doing Max before & and was looking for 3rd party tutorials to learn it but after 4 or 5 months I realise that the shipped tutorials r best for learning. So I stress upon Basic tutorials in learning Revit. Thanks. Also is it possible to work in one view & see two views? Pls let me know how?

Revit included tutorial is a good point to start learning it.

regarding the views, if you have a screen big enough to have more than one view open and visible at the same time, you can see more than one view. Also, you may want to consider working with 2 screens, side by side.

Just minimize the current screen ie floor plan. Then open 3D view or any and resize the two views like you would any other Microsoft Window.

Or just use the menu Window > Tile to let Revit organize the open views for you in one screen.

The tutorials, I don't think you will find them for free. Depending on which kind of construction you are looking for, there are several good Revit books out there. You may want to check the blog's from our members. I'm sure some of them have small tutorials or videos available for download.

Thanks, I have seen a video of Revit in which <3d Perspective view> is existed in View Area of the Project Browser, but in my RAC 2008's Project Browser is not existed. Do u know how to enable 3d Perspective view.

Go to View menu (beside project browser) > Camera. Define observer position and target position. A new 3D view showing the perspective will be created. You can name it as you want.

HI, I m trying to draw foundation wall by switching 02 Level & selecting 01 Lower level from the Depth drop down list, but the relevency will change for other steps of tutorial for drawing further walls. Pls tell me which elements of [12" Foundation wall] I should change in Element Proerpties dialog so that NO error [The top of the wall is lower than the base wall] will occur while drawing further walls.

Only foundation walls are drawn upside down. With the other walls you'll be using on the tutorial you won't have this behavior.
