Hi:
I wanted to know how can I show an opening overhead architecturally in any ground floor plan in dotted form as is done in autocad or any software.
Please let me know.

Sure, it's pretty standard.
1. Underlay the level containing the opening (probably the current level).
2. Activate linework tool, choose an appropriate style (<Overhead> sounds pretty appropriate :) ).
3. Click on the lines you want to see in the plan.
4. Deactivate underlay.

I'm not sure if I understand this. Are you saying I can indicate dashed line door headers in floor plan other than using drafting lines?

Yes, follow FK's advice underlaying the Current level for this.
The created linework is linked to the object and visible in the view when the underlay is switched off.
