placing door problem

i can't place a door into a wall from the door family no matter from which view. anyone knows what could be the problem? thanks

There could be any number of things going on here. Could you give a little more description as to what is happening? Are you working with phases? Is this a custom family or OOTB? Are you getting the "no smoking" sign on your cursor before you place the door? Are you getting an error message that says your door is not cutting anything?...

yes, i got "no smoking" sign on mu cursor when i tried to place a door (a door from original door family, not custom made). and yes, i am working with different phases.
