anyone know how to get them back. it's really annoying and i'm kind of paralyzed without being able to get back into model space or switch my layout tabs

nevermind. i just found it via google.

if anyone ever has this problem which resulted from "hide model/layout tabs" by right clicking on the tabs they are just moved down the the tray. you need to right click on the new icons and select "display model/layout tabs"

Under Options, Display Tab, Layout elements, re-select Display Layout and Model Tabs.

I have done this multiple times when selecting Publish from the Layout tabs.....LOL

Even if they are hidden, they are still there. There is two little triangles next to the icons on the bottom left of the tray. Click on those and the layout tabs appear as a list. You can choose them that way, and it gives you a little more screen space.

When all else fails, remember the variable TILEMODE.

I have noticed times when the icons do not show up.
I have files open and do not realize that the layouts exist.
Why does Autodesk make it so difficult?

My drawing has more than 40 layouts - The 2 little triangle icon brings up the list of layouts but locates it from the status bar down - I can not pick select wanted layout.!!! - Anyone please show me how to move or make the list shown up above status bar. Thanks

ThanksWelcome to AUGI & congrats on your 1st post. Just tried this, you're absolutely correct , have no clue how to get it working correctly . This only happens if the list of layouts if higher than your screen height, otherwise the list acts correctly. Would have been nice to have a list with a maximum height with those up / down arrows. Probably need to place this in the wishlist and hope ADesk gets round to fixing it .

BTW, you can also use Ctrl+PgUp & Ctrl+PgDn to step to next / previous layouts.

Thanks for prompt return.
I have spent almost 2 days and pulled down haft the amount of hair on my head to have found the answer for the problem:
*** Windows XP. Go to Control panel, Task Bar and Start Menu,[ Unclick] the "Keep the task bar on top of other windows".
*** Back to AutoCAD 2008 status bar. Without the windows task bar on top, the additional layouts icon with 2 tiny black triangles working perfectly; click the higher triangle to drop the layout list down below, don't know what for!, clicking the lower triangle (lower the better) will shoot the layout list up in drawing area with 2 activable scrolling triangle buttons. God, everyone happy.

Nice one ;). Playing around (because I don't like having task bar disappear on me ) came around an alternative way: Instead of deselecting "Keep taskbar on top", select "Auto-hide". Then moving the mouse fully to the bottom, pops up the taskbar, and the bottom triangle now does as you've described 8).
