I am one of those new users trying to set up a standard template with title block. I keep trying to modify the Residential default template (*.rte file) with no success. I am able to follow the tutorial on creating my titleblock with my own logo, but would like to incorporate it into the default templates to start being productive asap. I have not been successful.
Is it even possible, and how do I do it.
Your advice will be well received.

Welcome Donald,
I moved your post into the general forum so it won't get "lost" in the other thread.
Titleblock (sheets) are separate families that you import into a template. If you create the titleblock family you want, import it into your project template. Delete the Autodesk Revit ones and that will leave you with just the one you created. Now your project template is ready to put views on your office titleblock.
Does that help?

ok i have probably a really stoopid :? question regarding project templates and since I am still a newbie please be nice...
I have reached a particular milestone on one project, and about to start another project but want to use the settings etc from the current project into the new project. (Stay with me...)
ok, so i have created a new template by saving the original file as template.
Then created a new project from that template just created. The problem is it has saved all the information. Am I mistaken that this should only save the settings wihout all the floor plans, elevations, sections 3d's etc?
This has saved all the work. Do i have to delete all this information that has been transferrred, or am I doing something basically wrong?

Not a stoopid question.
There are a couple of ways you can start a new project with settings from another project.
1. Open " Project Old", then open "Project New" from your default template. From File, choose "Transfer project Standards " and the dialogue will give you a range of settings that can be transferred from the open old project to the new project. ( See other threads on this subject also )
2. Update your template file(s) regularly to contain your preferred settings, families, annotations, views, materials, object styles etc etc.
Use the appropriate template file to open the project. You can transfer settings to your template file as above.
As you're found, don't copy/save a project file as a template file, cos you'll get all the model stuff in there too.
Best bet for you now, is to use method 1, but also start on method 2, it'll pay dividends.
