This is my first real site plan.
How do I get just the wall outlines to show on a site plan.
At present all the walls are showing, is there an automatic way to get just the outline or should I just draw the outline and hide the walls.

Thanks,
Kim

There is no automatic way.

I usually draw an outline around the building ( either as model lines or as 2D lines, depending on whether the outline is required for other views ), then turn off the model categories.

The outline can be locked to the walls, so that it updates.

Revit never ceases to amaze me either by what it does or does not do. Revit is a huge ENIGMA.

Create a gross building area view the same scale as the site plan. Revit generates lines at the perimiter of the building Turn off everything but the Area boundaries. Override the area boundaries to the desired color and lineweight. Place the site plan on a sheet. Turn off the building on the site plan. Place the gross area plan on top of the site plan.

Heres another method , if you don't want to trace the walls.

Make a new wall type say 10 mm ( 1/4 "+ ) thick.
Swap out your external walls for that type.
Export as dwg.
Import/ link to drafting view or site plan view.
Ajust appearance of imported line work with object settings.
Reinstate original external walls.

It won't update of course. You would have to re-exprt to the link.

Just another way in revit.

Another way-

1) Activate the Site Plan view,
2) Use the Linework tool to change the outside face of the external walls to another linetype, eg <hidden>.
3) Again using the linework tool, change the inside face of the external walls to <invisible>
4) In Site Plan view. in view properties, set Display Model to Do not Display.

See attached.

One more option is to use worksets, place all exterior walls on an exterior workset and all interior on an interiors workset and just turn off the visibility as needed.
