Okay, so I know how to make a dormer roof in the middle of a roof eave, with slope-defining lines. I also know how to make a 4-sided dormer roof, where the sides of each dormer come down to a point at each corner, by using 2 slope-defining lines on each line of a square roof footprint sketch.
Well now I have a roof with different slopes (8 in 12 on the long sides, and 10 in 12 on the short sides). I need 2 small dormers at one corner of the building, one on the 8:12 side with its sides following the 10:12 roof, and another on the 10:12 side following the 8:12 roof.
But apparently Revit won't let that happen.
I'm attaching a photo of what I'm trying to create. The roof going down the wall to the left is 8:12, and the dormer on the right side of the corner is 8:12 to match. The roof going down the wall to the right is 10:12, and the dormer on the left side is 10:12 to match.
I have no problems creating one of either of the dormers with slope-defining lines. But when I try to put on the other dormer with slope lines of different slope than the first dormer, the roof breaks.
I know I can create it as a separate roof, but the only way to do so is to have the rake edge of the separate roof stick out slightly from the main roof, and I'd rather not have that. As you can see in the image, the fascia board is supposed to be flush along the eaves and up the rake of the gable roofs. If I make a separate roof that intersects the main roof, Revit will not join it.
