View Full Version : Revit 2009 - Mirror Project
We have just mirrored a large project. All in all it has been pretty good.
Issues thus far:
- Some Groups had issues (big surprise). These groups have not had
various corrections to help group issues. I will try mirroring on a newer project to see
if the same problems occur.
- Some Section bubbles need to be dragged into place!
- Some Reference Callouts have to be moved into postion!
- all errors can be exported to an html file.
I will give more information as it becomes available!

Last time i tried it, i had an issue with Linked Files. Not sure if any of them can be or have been addressed.
If you Mirror a Project with Links in it, it mirrors the instance of the link, but the linked file is not actually mirorred. For some reason, if you then open the link, save it, and reload it, it reverted back to its original orientation. Ill try it again and see if i can replicate that issue...

We have repeatedly tried mirroring a residential project with no success. It crashes the computer every time after sitting there for a few hours. How long did it take Revit to successfully mirror your project? How big of a file were you trying to flip? Do you have any tips?
How large is the file?
How much ram do you have?
Reguardless of size try this:
1- upgrade project. save
2- audit. save
3- restart computer (free up memory)
4- now mirror the project.
For us it took 15 to 20 min for a 80meg project!
I have a list of misc. little things that happen/don't happen with the project mirror. But i am currently on vacation.
All in all, we are very happy with the project mirroring so far!
Keep trying, and submit a request to autodesk.

Mirror Bug - Interior View Backwards
Flipped project East to West.
Interior Elevation markers for "North to South" are backwards. If you double click on the "North" it takes you to the "South" elevation.
I would have kinda expected the error to be "East to West" (direction of Mirror)!!!
Thoughts???

I have mirrored a few large complex projects. I find it best to copy the .rvt file to a second file, link that file into your host. Mirror the linked file and then bind it. (creating a group). The annotation elements do not come through but the entire process is extremely quick compared to a manual mirror of 12,000+ elements.

Do you find it faster to manually recreate all views and all annotations in each view rather then wait for a computer to do mirroring of everything including annotations?

Hi All,
On this same subject, I have a project (Unit Type 1) and need to create a handed version, otherwise identical. "Unit Type 1" is linked into "Unit Type 1 Handed", then the project is mirrored. The vertical dimensions in the mirrored project end up with the text upside down, ie top of text faces right instead of left and is situated on the right side of the dimension line instead of the left.
Any workaround?
Thanks, Dale

I tried to look for the command mirror project in Revit 2008 but I could not find it. Does it exist in revit 2008 at all ?
