Hi all !
Do anybody know the reason why the letter "i" or "I" instead off "<>" in dimension
suppress the dimension text ?
Happy Computing !

( test to change a dimension with DDedit, no other letter works like "i" )

I'm pretty sure this has to do with the evolution of
dimension text, prior to r2000, the symbol that
AutoCAD placed in a dimension string to indicate that
the distance displayed was the default distance
measured was the '<>" symbol. In other words
If one dimensioned a 5' opening and then edited the
dimension string, it would show <> not 5'-0".

Thank's Michael, I'm sure too, but that was not an answer to my question
the question was about the letter "i" or "I" alone, the dimension text disappear.
replace
"<>" with "i" ==> |----------|
"<>" with "J" ==> |-----J----|
"<>" with "k<>L" ==> |-----k123L-----|
So back again, do anybody know the reason why the letter "i" or "I" instead off "<>" in dimension text suppress the dimension text ?
Happy Computing !

Hi
Check out the following Technical Document on the Autodesk web site under the Knowledge Base section -
ID: TS23155 - The character 'i' disappears from dimension text (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=2867168&linkID=2475323)
Have a good one, Mike

Thank You Mike !
..if you are curious why I want to know the reason,
I use dimension with the "i" feature to show reinforcement spreading
but some day I may have unwanted "i" all over. . . .
Happy Computing !

Hi Kennet
Please note I've *moved* this thread from the AutoLISP (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=91) Forum to this one as I feel this particular Forum is a more appropriate place for such a topic.
Thanks, Mike
