counter....visibility

i have just noticed that my counters are appearing as transparent (thought they are set up as visible).....i have edited the properties and have given the counter a surface "solid fill" and it still apears in plan as if its transparent......put another way i can see the lines between the cabinets below the counter through the counter ( view range is set correctlly too, so the cabinets are are not being cut)

any suggestions as to what i have missed....?

Are you working in wireframe mode? if yes, change it to hidden lines.

...or the family is using symbolic lines rather than 3D objects in plan. I think some of the stock content is built this way.
