Does anyone know if Revit 2009 Mental Ray supports dual/quad CPU/cores? Max has however many squares per cores, but Revit only has one on my dual CPU machine. Is there a way to turn this on?

Check under: Settings - Options - Rendering

There is a checkbox there to limit to one processor, but it is off by default. So It should be using all processors. I have an octa core and it uses all 8.

Are you talking about 2008 or 2009? Are you sure MR in 2009 is using all eight cores? I've read on these forums that MR in 2009 will only use four cores.

Yeah sorry, I opened up 2008 ... Revit 2009 doesn't have that checkbox in the rendering tab.

About using all processors, well I actually didn't know what to make of it. Here are some screenshots. I noticed it did not go over around 57% but I thought it was using all of them. I guess if it is only using 50% it is just using half, which would be 4.

edit: another observation, I see what you mean ehw, there is only 1 bucket ... 3dsmax would have 8 buckets, 1 per core. I am guessing there is no way to turn this on in Revit. added a 3dsmax screenshot.

Just exported my first FBX file ... and noticed it created a folder with a hemispherical map for the background, which looks very nice with white clouds, but in the rendering in Revit they come out kind of gray and less defined.. not too white. Why is that? No opacity maps for the backgrounds?

The rendering process in Revit 2009 will utilize up to 4 cores.

So is this on by default and not represented through the buckets we are talking about?

Yes this is on by default. Revit will automatically detect up to 4 cores and utilize them during the rendering process.

export rendering as .png, you will get transparent background to insert your favorite background image...
