If I survive this I will survive anything. I have just saved my "petty little project" that has a fair number of different levels, plan regions, intricate if not complex roofs, near impossible wall joins, in place families, etc.I have lost my drawing several times today - reassigned project level - everthing went for s....t big time. Yes I used my numerous backups but always managed to loose something in the process.

No doubt all the tools are here in Revit to do this project in real time but the interdependancy of the geometry is driving me insane. Work like a dog to get close to completion and back to nothing. I really don't care what anyone has to say ... ... ... this is not a very refined piece of software - sorry.

I'm sure if one stays at it - one will solve the problems I am encountering. No doubt this was not the sort of project I should have initially attempted. No one should ever have to endure this sort of hardship. Please don't bore me with the training routine. IMHO you would be better off going fishing.

On the upside Revit did an impeccable job of exporting to Autocad 2005. But what a relief to be back in Autocad where I know what to expect when it comes to cleanup.

No I am not about to give up on Revit. I have narrowed done what created the problem. The particular roof I did had several roof elements joined to one another and walls to them. They were probably incrementally off - when I tried to correct them Revit turned my plan views inside out - I tried locking walls, disjoining, etc. to no avail. Obviously everything has to be "near perfect" in Revit or else one will go crazy. The collaboration was phenomenal, parametrics pretty good. On the down side printing was something stupid - kept reprinting same view ( I had unchecked in the view sheet dialog) - I don't know what caused this.

One thing I really do not want to do is use both Autocad (not ADT) and Revit - seems like an awful waste of time. However what I just completed is beyond imagination and endurance and I never want to have to go thru this again.

That's it.

So you took the double black diamond on the first run after you got your new skis, huh?

There is so much to know about this software, and unless you're doing basic architecture, you're going to need to know all of it.

I would still say that the wall joins could be made less automatic -- but that's just my opinion. I have pretty firm trust in the lads at the Factory who have usually thought thru all the implications of all features in the software.

Did you let Revit Support look at the file?
They help me out if something goes amiss.
