Sometimes it's the small things that make me happy. Just now I was editing a family in 2009, and wanted to turn off the ref planes before I saved. I selected a plane, and as I typed VH, I remembered that "oh right, those shortcuts don't work in families". To my pleasant surprise, it did work! That was always something that bugged me in 2008, and now it's fixed! Thanks factory!
Got any little things like that you've noticed that you'd like to share on this TGIF?

Having the text width factor available for dimensions sure is nice.

There's all kinds of stuff you have to love in 2009. Baselines dimensions... the clipping options now (so you can specify a clip line where the view depth ends) in views... dimension overrides... the little icon you get when a wall end has its end join disabled... the dashed blue lines around groups... the dashed lines when you use the Align tool... the swept blend tool... I could go on and on. The linked file improvements will be a godsend.
YES display performance is worse than 2008, but I'd put good money on them fixing that in the next build.

Following on what Wes said, the new linked file capabilities absolutely rock the house. I have a campus project that is 7 buildings, but all in one package of drawings. The elements arent all typical, so we have to detail them in the seperate buildings. If we didnt have the new 09 features of linked sections, we would either have to have one massive file with worksets galore, or sheets in all the different linked models.
The entire project is FLYING like this... 09 rocks, and im sure the issues withstanding will be resolved shortly.

That's good to know! I'll have to try it out - I have a project in 2008 that could GREATLY benefit from that function.

It works much more seamlessly than i thought it would, too. Its not foolproof, but its great. :)

Linked sections? More info please, I couldn't really find much info on that in the Help files.

Same as Linked Plan visibility.
Cut a section in File 1, and annotate and detail it.
Link File 1 in to File 2.
Cut a section in File 2 in the same place. Un the VG of the section in File 2, set RVT Link File 1 to "By linked view" and select the section from File 1... DING, all your annotations and details show up. :)
Revit (imho) suddenly got much more scalable...

interesting... but what if you want to put a drafting view detail onto a sheet in one file, and have a section marker referencing that detail in both files?

No dice... View annotations dont show across linked files still...
So put the drafting view in the main model? lol...

I can now have the current revision letter displayed to the right of my drawing number on the titleblock in 2009.
Thanks very much for this simple feature which could never be accomplished in 2008
