Roof basics

I'd like to remove the black portion of the roof running left to right. How do i do that? I can do it by making an in place family and subtracting it. Is that really the way to remove it?

You can do that with Modelling > Opening > Vertical Opening, but I'm sure what you want is better accomplished if done within the Roof editor using two slope arrows, one against each other.
