I don't know if it's common knowledge, but printed manuals are available for Revit 2009 in French, Spanish, and English.
Go here http://autodeskdocandmediaamericas.com/autodesk2008/ to order.

Thank You Bill.

that's interesting, thanks.
Wonder if it applies outside US&Canada though?
A bit academic at the moment anyway as I'm still  waiting for a 2009 serial no.

Dosn't apply to Australia yet. Got one last year and is a great reference guide.

This is where I normally get mine from; http://www.autodeskstore.com/home/store.pl
They have the 2009 products listed, but after going through the details process it tells me there are no media available just yet. Maybe try again in a few weeks time.

Two other items of note:
First, here is where Revit 2009 PDF documentation is located (for english):
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=11091739
The interesting thing is that there are specific tutorials and info relative to family creation. If we've had this in earlier years, I haven't noticed. (I know there were earlier tutorials, but there is now a separate PDF volume dedicated to families.)
Second, the "literature request" site offers no literature available so far for 3DS Max Design 2009. However, I have downloaded the PDF version. There are 8178 pages in three volumes. This compares to only 1608 pages for the Revit User Guide. Little wonder that they don't want to publish the Max guide.

Have just thumbed the families pdf (thats if you 'thumb' a pdf).
Its not completely extensive but certainly whoever put it together gets a pat on the back from me. From my point of view, this kind of thing has been sorely needed.
My only hope is it is now not to be considered 'job done' with no further evolution of these manuals.
As for the printed manual situation.....perhaps autodesk distribution can take that on as something to be improved upon. For my part they could keep the calendar and pen that was sent at Christmas and send a printed manual instead.
Thanks,
Rob

Bill, Thanks for the link. Last year I was able to get both the tutorial book and the user's manual. I don't think that is the norm, as in previous years I have been able to order only one.

Thanks for noticing the families guide we produced this year. A lot of work went into putting it together. We hope to expand upon the guide in the future. :)

Jeff,
Thanks for the family tutorials. This has been something that has been needed for a long time and deserves an entire book. I also subscribe to NAPP, a Photoshop group. What they have done lately is a series of very short video clips explaining the uses of Photoshop tools. This would be helpful and excellerate the learning process.
They also post longer clips demostrating techniques and tips. I beleive that a subscriber accessed site could host these for Revit. The ATP courses are fine but they a few and far between, AND they are text. Watching and doing at the same time is most efficient. I also subscribe to Daryl's DGCAD clips, which helps keep me up tp date and learn something I may have missed or am unclear about.
I would think, that with the success of Revit, Autodesk could do something similar. Thanks again.

The documentation team is currently looking into this possibility. Stay tuned. :)

This is great.... Especially the Family Guide....
Thanks
Has anyone received this manual yet? I placed my order the day Bill posted and got a confirmation e-mail, but so far have not received.
I notice that there are no Printed docs available for Revit Architectural Suite 2009.
Anyone know when this will be available?

I ordered my AutoCAD 2009 doc exactly 1 month now and still no sign of it, and my email to Autodesk through the correct channels has gone unanswered.
My Revit docs which only came online this week were ordered on Monday so it's a little too soon for them just yet.

I ordered Revit Manuals earlier this week as well. They did say 6-10 days but it thought that might be ambitious with likely orders of several hundred thousand revit manuals to be filled in a month.

Did you order them using the link from earlier in this thread? I cannot find any docs for Revit Architecture Series 2009. Seems a rather glaring omission.

No, from here http://www.autodeskdocandmediaasia.com/autodesk2008
It seems we are on a different distribution system.

I've noticed today that the status of my three book orders have changed.
I now have 2 at Order-In-Progress
and 1 that has been Approved.
Looks like 1 of 2 things has happened. They were swamped with orders as RJ mentioned above, or the books just were ready to be shipped until now.
Well, I got my RAC2009 User Guides in today... and they only sent me Vol. 1 of a two volume set (pg. 1 - 754 of 1469). I guess they are saving the second volume for SP1...
This would almost be comical if it weren't for all the other problems with this release...

I started this thread on 2 May. I received all the requested manuals today.
Just for the record, I received two Revit 2009 User's Guides, one each of the Revit 2009 Imperial and Metric Tutorials, and one 3-volume Autocad 2009 User's Guide.
As far as I remember, that's what I ordered, and all were received on the same day.
So it was a 25-day turn-around for me. (southeastern USA.)
(Edit: I spoke too soon. I only have Volume 1 of the Revit User's Guide.)

Hello Everyone,
I just now noticed the User Guide is missing chapters, and comparing it to last years, as far as number of pages I thought it might have been a mistake and it's actually missing pages.
I don't see where it says it's "Volume 1" like the AutoCAD 2008 user guides I have, those are lableled as such. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this :o I was somewhat excited it wasn't as thick as the 2008 version. lol
I just noticed the table of contents. . . an extra 600+ pages yikes! I hope it's better organized.
UPDATE 6-11-09
A collegue of mine ordered a set week before last, and he did receive 2 volumes. The cover of his books are updated also, stating the volume it is. I'm assuming there must've been a mistake somewhere and we're not being made aware of it.

I received Volume 2 of the Revit User Guide today (17 June). The Volume 1 that I received earlier and the new Volume 2 appear to be complete with no pages missing.

i had to request the v.2 user guides via email and they promptly sent them to me.
Maybe the distribution has been corrected to ship both but if you are missing v.2 just email them and they should come through... (i had my v.2 arrive in a week)

Both volumes arrived today, bout 6 weeks delivery time to Australia.
First time to have manuals since autocad 2005, never had any user documentation with revit and been using since 6.1,.
It will be interesting to see if after reading I have any productivity increase or I hope at least a better understanding of the software.
