Being new to ADT, I did my first eclectic plans in model space. Showing someone
what I was doing, I click onto SW and look at the drawing in 3d. My electrical Line, plugs, switches, Fan etc are all floating in space. So the questions is:
What do you do in Model space and what do you do in paper space.
And for the 2d stuff you do in model space how do you kept it down on 0 elevation.

I use ABS, when you insert any of those objects they are inserted at an elevation. You can change this elevation in the "Add Device" window or set up the device(s) elevation(s) in the Tools>Options>Building System Elevations Tab (remember, I'm using Building Systems.)
When you change your view to an ISO view, the devices are landing in there respected elevation accordingly to the elevation that you are setting it to (or the default).
What gets drawn in Model Space (MS) and Paper Space (PS) seems to be the question of the century. I generally draw ALL of my objects in MS and put my dimensions and notes in PS. If it is a label to an object then I put it in MS with the object. Some draftsman put there dims in MS, that way any layout they may do the dims are always there, I would just rather add new ones to that particular layout, that way if there are dims I don't want, I don't have to mess with them.
Hope this helped some!

I use this rule, all things related directly to the model
Model Space
All things that are simple anotations or notes about the model
Paper Space.
Unlike MicroStation we do not have a command like SET Z=xx.xx
So for the placement of 2d elements (?) in a 3d model
one must pay attention to the placement at the correct elevation
or on to the correct face if placing on a wall.
The ALIGN command is handy for this, or use of UCS object
would work as well, as then that object defines 0,0,0
works well for say second floor object placement.

Hi
Below comes from the [size=2]http://forums.solidvapor.net/faq.php?faq=vb_augi]AUGI Forum Guidelines ([/size) -
<snip>
Do not post the same question to more than one Forum at a time. The term for this is "Cross-Forum Posting" which can be quite confusing and will complicate the Forum process. All but one of the posts will be deleted by the moderators.
</snip>
I've merged the post from the ACAD 2005 General (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=58) Forum into this one, so keeping all information.
Can I please ask that in future you do *not* post the same question/query to more than one Forum, please let a post take it's natural course within the one Forum of your choice.
Thanks for your understanding,
Mike

Just curious, when you dimension in paper space, then move the object in model spoace, do you then have to go back to paper space and move the dimension?

In theory no....although it isn't always perfect.

If I move an object in model space that is dimensioned in Paperspace, most of the time if the dimension is associative, it will stay with the object, but if it does not stay, then I have to move them, which usually is not that difficult. I just move the dimensions to there respective place using a common base point.
