Tips for railings

I have to make some railings of different lengths , as the attachment... Is there any special way to create such combinations? I imagine the classic way is to make one segment of type1, one of type2 and again one of type1... Can any advanced feature like nested families be use here? Is there any other trick?

This will have to be made up of 3 separate railings. The one in the middle will have to be a different railing type than the one on the end. You'll also have to make a railing panel family for the center railing.
