Is there a way to enlarge the Opaque Setting On Text and Dimension?

I would like to increase the opaque masking area that exists on opaque text and dimension strings. How can this be done, if at all? I have used filled regions alot but want to see if there is a way that I can avoid that mess.

I don't think there's a way yet other than using filled regions...
But if you just want it to be larger, you can add empty spaces (with space bar) to prefix and suffix. Adding empty spaces to the above value will also help but your text won't be on the center of the area.
