Rtext

Is there a conflict with inserting Rtext into a dwg as a block? Also, what would cause Rtext to show as a box with lines crossing from corner to corner?

I've been inserting rtext as a block for my date stamp since it came out and have had no "conflicts". The Box Happens when the drawing is opened by a ver of ACAD that doesn't support rtext, most commonly because Express tools aren't loaded or the Rtext lisp didn't load properly.
