Nested components (curtain walls)

Hey, I am newer to revit architecture but I have the books and they aren't helping me with something I want to do. How do I create a spider-clamp stuctural curtain wall? The book mentions nesting and linking parameters to create this but where do I do this? Do I create a new curtain wall family and model the clamp with a new curtain wall? Just a tip on where to start would help..thanks!

A word of warning. This family can be something of a beast if used for large areas of glass walls.
