Summary: In the family editor Family Element Visibility Settings add Detail Levels to each View Specific Display independently.

Description: In the family editor Family Element Visibility Settings add Detail Levels to each View Specific Display independently.

How Used: When creating a window casing I can select it to not be visible in Plan/RCP when the view detail level is coarse or medium such as in an 1/8" or 1/4" plan but is visible when the view detail level is fine such as in a 1/4" plan or 1-1/2" detail view. At the same time the window casings visibility can be set to display Front/Back in all detail levels and Left/Right in all medium and fine views.

Feature Affinity: Family Editor

You can currently just override the particular views detail level for that category of object. This can be tied to view templates to ensure that the correct setting is applied to the desired view type....

I turn the visibility of a families nested component off in a Project View, the components "ghost" remains which obscures the line work of anything that it touches, and if I assign materials by category they stil display irrespective of the components visibility. Please let me know if I am missing something.

I think this is a very good wish. When you are making a complex family with linework in all three detail levels (coarse, medium and fine) the overlapping geometry can get quite complex. The ghosting of the turned off lines seem to always be getting in the way. Without loading the family into a project there is no way to truly see what your family will look like at the current detail level.

I vote for a toggle of some sort so that you can quickly turn off geometry and linework that is not supposed to be visible at the detail level you are working in.
