View Full Version : Fill Patterns Appear Shattered in Component

Has anyone had this happen.

I'm using an Owens Cultured Stone pattern for my Masonry - Stone material; set up as a model pattern.

If you look at the picture the lower stone is a wall sweep using the Masonry - Stone material and the higher stone is an in-place component using the Masonry - Stone material also (I needed to cut out where the window was so I used the component feature here).

As you can see the in-place component fill pattern looks shattered. I've had this happen with all complex patterns not just Owens.

Any comments?

There's some discussion on why AutoCAD hatch patterns lose "focus" in the same manner when located a long way away from the hatch pattern origin. This is due to numerical roundoff in calculating hatch line segment endpoints.

Obviously Revit is not AutoCAD yet both packages can use hatch pattern definitions intended for the other and your problem may arise in a similar manner.

What are the effective coordinates of the affected wall section? As a test, is it possible to move or create a copy of the problem section closer to your global origin or wherever Revit uses as a hatch origin and see if the problem goes or stays? <Interesting>

Have a look at this thread:

Thanks for the link Hugh, I found a work around by using a pattern that doesn't fragment as much...but you've given me lots to read about later.

Thanks again
