Hi all,

:banghead:

scenario:
roofs by footprint and roof by face will kind of join, but not really using the join/unjoin roof eges. Roof by face is eyebrow roof on angle (not perpendicular to elevation view). when I try to edit the roof by footprint to cut out the overlapping areas, I select the lines created by the joinned geometry, but then the warning that the roofs will no longer remain joined occurs. If I offset the lines, then the cut doesn't really appear as needed. ...arrgh!

So, I am trying to mass the whole assembly and use pick face to create roofs. Fine. Looks good so far. But, now I need to change the fascia cut from plumb to two-cut plumb and voila _ sorry roof cannot be made.

Is there a limitation to type of roof cuts that can be made using the roof by face tools, or am I just a flogging idiot running out of time, patience, brain tissue......?

 obviously, I am an idiot, but Revit can be tricky, too.

setting the face to be the bottom of my roof, and offsetting in a negative direction to align the top of the roof with the face I want enables me to change the fascia cut.

I think that is kind of bogus, but hey....only part of the problem has been solved, and my deadline is going to run me over.

bye...
