Greetings,

I may be embarking on making a model of an existing building with towers with battered walls. Is there a way that Revit can make such a creature?

In short, yes. Look at walls by massing and/or in place families...

I think the split face tool and paint bucket will be a good couple of tools to make use of when showing different textures (i.e. peeling plaster over exposed brick)

Alternatively, you can use a standard wall and a wall reveal (see pictures below).

In my example, to obtain a 4:1 battered retaining wall I used a standard wall but made it thicker to get the top of the wall to the correct size. Since my walls are 1.5 m high and the battering is 4:1 (1500 mm × 0.25 = 375 mm) I created the walls 375 thicker than they should be (i.e. 300 mm thick wall + 375 mm for the reveal "cut out" = 675 mm overall thickness to start with).

That seems like something that would work for me. Many thanks.

I would definetely use Wall by face over a mass for this... But i think it also depends on what the wall should look like in section. If its simple a wall built at an angle, Wall by Face is the way to go, as the front AND back of the wall will have the angle. If the wall is vertical on the back, and angled on the front, than i would use a method like described above...
