column in a wall

Hi,

I was putting columns in a wall when I started to wonder how Revit deals with these columns. I decided to make two small walls one with a column and one without a column.

when I took a look at the wallschedule I noticed that the volume of the wall is exactly the same for both walls. Apparantly Revit does not subtract the column from the wall.

Is there a way of getting this right?

or is this simply a 'feature'?

You'll have to use structural columns and not architectural columns. Also, It seems not work with round columns. Using a rectangular structural columns and joining it to the wall will work.
