I needed to exprt to .3ds format and found the link to the re-install of the 3DSOUT command. I downloaded the 32 bit version - it didn't work - I downloaded the 64 bit - still nothing.

I am using APPLOAD and the Ac3DSOUT.arx file is in the right location (at least that's what I believe) C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Map 3D 2008.

It tells me that the file was "Unable to Load" and hence the 3DSOUT command is still not recognized.

What am I missing? I don't want to blow a bunch of time on this and I really need my model converted NOW!

I can pop up as many versions of the .dwg/.dxf file of the model as needed - but at this point I don't think that the model is the problem, I am still thinking it's the program itself.

Read with carefully this:

and apply them.

Done & Done....

...still doesn't install.

I even tried to copy the files out to a temp location and copy/paste them into the correct folder (as per the Windows Vista instructions - even though I am running XP) and have not had any success.

I haven't used Max or Viz in a while, but if you're in a crunch you could link the .dwg file into Max (or Viz), then save it. I believe it would save as a .3ds file. Or if you don't have it, send the .dwg to whoever is doing the rendering, and have them just link it.
