The first thing I did when I got 2009 was to customize it. I have now found out that customizing panels with bugger the whol thing up now I need to fix it. How do I do it?
I have multiple panels strung along thetop of my screen, blank panels and the cui is having trouble finding acad.cui (ever though its right there in supportand I cant start over.

There are alot of good things with this release but why did they release and unfinished product?

Close AutoCAD.
Copy the OOTB menu from C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009\UserDataCache\Support to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2009\R17.2\enu\Support
Restart AutoCAD.
If necessary, run the MENU command and select ACAD.CUI from the second path listed above.

If that won't do it, do a repair installation of the DVD.

Hats off to you though. You seem to have borked the CUI harder than I've ever been able to!

I can bork it up like nobodys business! I'll give those a try, thanks for the help.

And once you've put it back how it was, don't bother doing any custom Ribbon work until at least the first service pack. Seriously.

I guess the good news could be that the canned ribbon is pretty efficient all by itself. I finally settled on having just one additional tab, which was a combo of the Home and Annotate tab panels I used most. Not bad for me!

Raises an interesting question for our firm, who only just started subscriptions: how does one know when the service pack is released?

If you have not disabled the communication center, and it can connect, it will tell you.

Otherwise, just visit the website for your product periodically, click on Data and Downloads, then Updates and Service Packs.
