setting offset distance

do we always have to type in the offset distance
or have a pull down list of common values

thot we could just pick points to get the dist
this is a lot extra work if going back and forth to various offset values

Your question is a bit cryptic (it wouldn't hurt to be a bit more descriptive), but here's a go at it:

after selecting the offset tool, there's a "Graphical" button on the option bar. Select that. Then select the element you want to offset, pick a point and then another point (or type in a distance).
