I am working on some framing plans, and would like to show a cut away view of the different materials in the framing, see the CAD example of the floor framing plan below, does anyone know how/if this can be done in RAC 2009. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does it need to be a perspective 3D view or can it be an Axon view? If the latter, just open a 3D view, duplicate and rename it, then turn on the section box. Then you can drag the sides of the box to cut through the model in various places.

Of course you would need to have all of the joists and other structural elements in the model for the section-cut areas to look correct.

it just needs to be in a plan view, like the PDF example I posted.

If what you are talking about is the different pattern inside the "half-circles", you can use a Filled Region to do that.

Drafting > Filled Region > sketch the lines and define the region properties including pattern.

I'd suggest turning off your floors, and use some Filled Regions to represent the subfloor. I'm assuming you've placed all the joists and beams using structural element?

wow, such a simple answer. i didnt know a filled region would go over a structural element like that, so I didnt even think of that. thanks for the help.

Filled regions cover up any and all model elements.

...if you make them opaque.

i got this finally done yesterday, using the filled regions with the patterns. I layed my floor joists first, then a filled region on top, but you could still see the joists beneath. to fix that, i did a filled region with a solid white color on top of the joists and then another filled region on top of the solid with the actual pattern I wanted to see, and that seemed to work just fine. i made a test print and it looks fine. here is how it came out.
