Question: Can Navisworks input or change data in object parameters from an imported Revit file? What I'm looking for is a way to have people at the jobsite, be able to input or change information in a Navisworks file that was derived from a Revit model. An example would be entering a date into a parameter for when steel members arrived on the jobsite.

I think they could do what you asked by editing the timeliner task start date versus the Planned Start date.

Somebody else might have a better suggestion though...

To add more specifics that might help... We are looking into creating a tracking system for building parts. We would like to track dates for when parts leave warehouses, manufacturers, etc. Track dates for the parts as they arrive on the job site. And lastly, track the dates the parts are used in the construction. We know this could be done in Revit by adding additional parameters to the part objects, but feel it is cumbersome to use Revit at the job site. So we would like to add the parameter fields to the objects in Revit and possibly use Navisworks to enter the dates at the job site.

You can create a custom parameter in NavisWorks by right-clicking in the properties box and selecting "add new user data tab.." Once created, you can populate with any property and value. These can be string, boolean, float or integer. These properties can then be searched for and have a search/selection set named created via the find items feature. This would allow you to serach for and identify any item by the criteria you mentioned earlier.
