MLeader text frame

Does anyone know of a way/variable to adjust the text frame in a MultiLeader? Seems a little close.

The text box option is useless to me because it is too close. I hope someone from Autodesk reads this.

You could explode the multi-leader & use the express tool "text mask" and change the wipout frame setting to "on". This gives a decent frame around the text, but it isn't a multi-leader any more.
Another option is to add a background mask to the multi-leader text, and turn the fill setting to "off". This keeps the multi-leader intact, and you can adjust the size of the frame, but if you have any filled fonts or solid hatches they will be gone.
Plus & Minus for both methods.
