I was wondering if anyone knows how to apply materials to a imported sketchup model. Heres the problem I'm having.

i make a model in sketchup.
import it to Revit family or project.
trying to apply material to the imported model but not able to.

Is it possible to do so? or is it impossible? does anyone have this problem too? i can't seem to apply material, paint, or even split face the object. If anyone can help. it would be great. Thank you.

Yes, it is possible. Assign material to SketchUp object via Settings > Object Styles > Imported Objects. It is important to make sure elements are put on correct layers in SketchUp. For SketchUp imports that have more than one layer/material, make sure to use the 'color by layer' option in the layer window.

This is not possible to my knowledge, unless something has changed recently.
I understand imports to be "symbols" only. They sit there in the scene or can be used to trace upon, meaning, you can apply walls or other objects to the faces of the "symbol" like a 3D skeleton. Cannot explode the symbol to modify any data.

Okay, perhaps i am proven wrong. Of course that could work.
I cannot wait to try the suggestion.

Thanks.

Wow... Great. It worked perfectly. now i just need to go back to the sketchup file and specify all the layers correctly.
Thank you for the info.
