A co-worker is having a problem where he will select an element, and it will jump up on the screen, actually moving in the actual project. So if he selects a vertical grid line, the grid head actually jumps up. If he selects a horizontal grid line, the grid actually shifts upward (bad!).

I noticed that when he selects an object, separate additional toolbar "areas" appear at the top of the screen. So when he selects an object and it jumps up, there is suddenly the family type drop-down box on a row by itself, then another row below that with the Press + Drag box and the filter button, and then another row below that with the Editable Only box. When he clicks off the object, those additional toolbar rows disappear.

This is Revit 2008, running on a laptop with an additional external monitor attached. Revit is running on this external monitor, but I noticed that he had the laptop display set to be the primary display. It has been working fine this way for several weeks and just today started this behavior. Any thoughts?

Yeah, this happened to me, too patricks, and it was just some stupid graphic setting. I'll try to track down the thread & re-post it.

I had a similar problem in 2008, didn't try to repeat it in 2009. But basically what was happening was I would select something (not sure if it was to modify or something else). and due to the options toolbar dynamiclly appearing... it simulated a drag operation without me acutally dragging anything. For me... simply maximizing my Revit window fixed this behavior. I forget what the window size was that made it do it but my maximized size is 1600x1200 and the misbehaving size was not much under that.

Well we switched the external monitor to be the primary display and it seems to be working.
