We are building a 6 story building with conc columns and floor slab supported by conc beam structure. The exterior skin is brick backed up by cmu that rests on the edge of the conc floor slab.

We are using a somewhat complicated compound wall consisting of 8" cmu with gyp bd furring on the inside and on the outside 2" insulation, 2-3/8" air space, and 2-5/8" brick. We are linking in the structural Revit model. The conc columns from the linked in model do not cut the cmu wall where they overlap. Prior to linking in the model we tried using conc and structural architectural columns but they either did not cut the cmu walls or took on the material of the cmu wall. Is there a way to use voids to cut out the wall where the columns occur?

We are having another problem with the sections. 30" deep beams are located at the slab edge that the outside edge of the cmu ines up with. So we are building the walls from floor to underside of beam and modifying wall types so the exterior brick skin can be pulled up to the floor level above. That seemed to be working well in the section view but a 3D view revealed that the building corners were not cleaning up. The corners have weird gaps. Is there a similar way to use voids to cut out the cmu at the slab edges?

I am not sure if I am asking the same question twice but the walls seem to behave differently in plan and section.

The pdf's have the structure poched in gray.

Thanks for any help
