All,
Regarding family development of structural steel plates, I have various questions that require attention before development begins. Hopefully some of you have some insight or prior experience with developing steel plate families.
Using face based template it would seem that various families will be required to enable various connections to be modeled. In regards to the angles and amount of faces each plate contains. From simple 4 face cleat plates to complex 6+ face connection plates.
Now is there a method to develop these plates within a single family or will multiple families be required for this?
Another issue is that face based plates for instance could be attached to the web of a beam. Then another plate may require attachment to this cleat to utilize a bolted connection. However using the same face based family the plate will not sit flush with the initial plate, extruding perpendicular from the first plate. (hope your still with me)
So would this require another face based family that is basically designed to attached the plates main surface to the plate??
Regards,
Brock
