Area Plans - Gross Building vs. Rentable. How about Usable?

Hi all,

Doing more BOMA calcs via revit. I am starting to get accustomed to working with the Gross Building Area Plan, and the Rentable Area Plan.

Is there a way to make a new type of area plans called "Usable?"


I realize the room tool will give me a usable, inside wall area. BUT.... for a multi-tenant floor, I need to count the wall thickness, for interior walls that serve only that tenant space.

Any way to make a third type of area plan?

Go to Room and Area menu > Settings > Area schemes tab and create a new one.

How about this one...

I've made a bunch of area plans. The client has asked me to export to CAD so that they can manipulate the PLines. BUT... the area boundaries do not export as PLines.

The color fill that is exported is not the actual area, but the topical 2D representation of the area (it cuts away at columns, for example).

Anyway I can get areas or rooms into an AutoCAD file?

Go to File > Export > Cad formats > Options > Mark Export Rooms and Areas as polylines.

Hrm... when I open the CAD file in AutoCAD, the area borders don't seem to be PLines. Instead they are just regular lines. Any thoughts?

Omg, it's been so long since I've used AutoCAD, I think my brain has atrophied.
