Siding on wall sections

I am working on some wall sections and came to adding the siding. I can't figure out a way to turn off the visibility of just the siding layer of my wall. The only solution I've found is to remove the cut fill pattern for my siding material then use the linework tool to hide the exterior face line, then add my siding detail component.

I keep thinking that there must be a better way.

Ususally in this type of situation (I come up against it when showing roof tiling in detail on sections) I use the edit cut profile tool to cut back the finish layer to somewhere outside the view's crop region, or to somewhere that it will be hidden by a detail component or similar. It's quick and keeps the cut fill pattern for when you want it in other views

Make a detail component using filled regions(solid white and invisible lines) that actually hide you model generated line. I use these for roof shingles and siding.
