Graphic Ceiling Legend

So for the first time I have a very real need to do a Ceiling Legend. Got lots of nice ceilings in this project. I kinda hoped/assumed that I could drop a Ceiling in a Legend and change it to RCP representation, like I can have either a Plan or Section version of a Wall, and then note it up. Nice and BIMmie.
No such luck, all I can have in a Legend is a Section view of the Ceiling, which I have seen in a Ceiling Legend exactly zero times in my entire life.
So, is the only answer to a graphic ceiling legend a bunch of Filled Regions? Ack!?

Any better options?

What about doing it the 'pre-legend' way.
Set up some walls in a different phase, place every ceiling type, annotate and create view. Duplicate as required and place on each RCP sheet. Not great or very Revit like but a possibility.

Thats how ours are done. There is a phase that happens before the project (two, actually). One that has all the "legend" items created, and one that has all the "legend" items demolished.

That way i have Floor Plan Legends, RCP legends, Door details, etc... And since all of those objects get demo'd in the demo legend phase (i keep a view set to show previous and demo only, so all you have to do is open the view and make sure everything is red...) none of it affects the model or schedules...

It's funny gordon, I was going through this exact problem yesterday. We resorted to doing it the way you eluded to, with a bunch of filled regions. Basically we needed to consider the people working on the project.

Phase's sound good, but not everybody has a complete grasp of how these work.

I agree that it doesn't really fit the BIM world and I can't understand why the legend function does not account for all legend types!!!

So you have a floor plan drawn specifically for this? I keep reading about this phase setup for legends, and I can't find any other threads explaining it in more detail.
I'll try it and hopefully it'll make sense once I see it. :)
