Viewport extents

How do you control the overall extents of a viewport? We have a bunch of viewports where the overall extents is way too big. See attached viewport & extents settings.

Oversized boundaries like this are usually telling you that there is an object of some sort way out there in space. Try dragging a selection window over the large "empty" space and you will probably select something. Once you know what it is you can hide, delete, etc... as needed.
