Grading Object at slope/grade

I have created a grading object and told it to go at a specific grade to a surface. It is creating its own grades/slopes.

Is this a glitch or am I missing something?

Can you post a drawing or a screenshot? Grading objects are fairly simple, if you've set your grading criteria and choose the feature line to grade from it should be pretty straight forward. Maybe something is just being over looked?
