stick symbol problem

My stick symbol on a UB family will only show up if I have my cut plane above the beam, but I need it to show up on the floor plan the same as my truss (which is actually placed higher)

I thought the cut plane was just to show breaks in the walls for doors etc, but it is reacting oddly to my beam being higher than it.

The family didn't have a stick symbol, so I added it as a symbolic line on stick projection style, and as I mentioned, it is only working where it's below the cut plane.

Any suggestions?

You will need to add an invisible line in elevation that is long enough to be cut thru by your cutplane.
