Sun/shadow settings in shaded elevations

I have several elevations set to shaded color. Some of them appeared darker than others (like they were in shadow), so I checked the Advanced Model Graphics, and all elevations had "Use Sun Position for shaded display" turned OFF. However, when I changed the Sun Postion setting to something other than Sun and Shadow Settings (I changed it to Sunlight from Top Right), the elevation became lighter to match my other elevations.

So my question is, why was the elevation affected by the sun position setting when I had the option to use sun position turned off? Why were all of my elevations not light colored when they were set to not use the sun position setting?

Isn't it related to the dark shaded elevations issue we saw a few months ago when people started using Revit 2009?

Ah yes... quite odd. I'll have to check and see what a new file created in 2009 does with shaded elevations.
