I'm new to mechanical and in all my dwg's, AM_ANSI is now the default dimstyle instead of the previous one it was set to...and it resets everytime I close and open the dwg. I figured out how to go into the AM:Standards and change it to the dimstyle I want, but when I open the dwg again, it is back to AM_ANSI. How do I change this? I don't want to use power dimensions or any of that junk,,,don't know how to use it, don't particularly want to since regular dims are working fine for me. I just want to get rid of AM_ANSI. Any help?

I have set up a template that I load every time when I create a new drawing. In that, I have my default dimensions set up. Go to you properties dialog, go to the AM:Standards tab, and edit the standard elements, dimensions to set your base dimension style.

I would also take the time to learn the power dimensions, they'll speed things up dramatically for you.

I run across this one a lot! I'm using Mech2007 right now, but it should be similar. In Options, go to the AM:Standards tab. On the right hand side of the screen right click "Dimensions" and click on Properties. Then un-check the "Force usage of Predefined Dimension Styles".
