Structural Elements misbehaving?

Using RAC 2009.

Placing some joists in a model, I set my level "Joist Top". I want the top of the joist to locate on "Joist Top". In the Elements Property I have Joist Top as my reference level; Start Level Offset & End Level Offset are 0; Z-Direction Justification is Top. Yet the centre of the joist locates to the "Joist Top". I've tried other Z-Direction Justifactions but makes no difference.

Am I missing something?

Try opening the joist family and see where the joist is positioned, relative to the family origin (ref level).

So why does it not seem to make any difference whether I select Top, Middle or Bottom for the z-direction justification?

Just guessing, but it may be an old family, not set up in the new template.
