View Full Version : Concrete Floor Void Mass not Hatching

I made Floor-Void family (slab depression.rfa) to match the slope that contractors place in some garages with concrete floors. It works fine, in that it cuts the void in the concrete slab, however, it doesn't hatch the void to match the slab hatch - the void is an empty grey. I have tried making the surface and cut hatch the same, but it doesn't help. There is nothing I can see to do to the void itself, so I am left to try and figure out what I can do to the floor or perhaps a visibility setting?

It will render fine - showing concrete in the void. The plan view and 3d view, however, just show an unhatched grey.

Anyway to fix this? The Slab Depression family is in the attached rvt file.

Put the hatching in the void family on the void depth plane

I used a void swept blend and haven't made any reference planes yet. I was unaware we could attach a hatch to a reference plane. I played with it a bit, and still don't see it...but I'll keep at it. If you have a simple example of a void swept blend that is hatched, can you post it so I can take a look?

Thanks.

How about if you totally get rid of the void and select the floor slab? Once you select the floor slab, go to the Options bar and click on the "draw points" icon. This allows you to assign point elevations on your floor slab to create the slope you are looking for. Assuming you are using Revit 2008 version, or latest. I hope this helps.

I'm using 2009 and I played with the floor slab a bit. It will work, but I was after something parametric that I could easily add and change the slope and size.
