you can turn the link into a group and ungroup it.

when i select the linked file will the option to group and/or ungroup show up ?
and does it allow ungrouping into the various individual elements with the original properties used to create the model in the first place
thanks

yes, what you want to do is to "bind" the linked file. That turns the linked file into a group in the current project. Then you can upgroup the group and it will be normal editable elements in the project.

From the Help menu in Revit when I searched for "bind":
In the drawing area, select the linked Revit model.
On the Options Bar, click Bind.
In the Bind Link Options dialog, select the elements and datum to include in the group, and click OK.
