I work in industrial and I am using revit to model pipe racks. Most of the racks I am modelling are single post "T" type structures or double post with x bracing.
I am using RS2008.
I have two issues that I cannot get a good solution to.
1. What is the best way to model the bents that are exactly alike for long distances? I used the model groups function and it just does not seem to work as I would expect it to. Initial settings of the multiple entitites of the bents goes OK. However, if I go to modify say beam length or level elevations, things go all over the place. Are model groups the best thing to do, and I just need to learn the quirks of using them. Or should I use families to model the bents? Perhaps linked in seperate project files would work, but I am not able to tag these items well. Just looking for input into a best practice.
2. With T post I often get a circular reference problem. It seeams revit does not like beam support in the middle. Would two cantilever beams somehow joined avoid this problem?
